Safari Week In Review

To quote Music Matt, "Like the Ranger's post season, all good things must come to an end". So yesterday we ended Safari week with some entertainment from Master Storyteller Jonathan Kruk:

Before Jonathan visited us, campers listened to Music Matt and Sports Mike sing "Hakuna Matata" at our all camp meeting.  Then counselors and specialists led campers in a dance to "Jungle Boogie" and the "Dinosaur Stomp":

Campers were also busy in specials all week participating in different activities and creating unique crafts.

In art, campers created colorful butterflies out of coffee filters and safari animals out of paper plates:

Down the hall in story, Jessica read the infamous book, Where the Wild Things Are to campers.  Then they wrote about what makes them wild:

In Science, campers colored, cut and put together human skeletons.  Then some groups learned about the Scientific Method before conducting their own experiment in which they determined which candies float and which candies sink in a pint of water:

In Music and Dance campers viewed the stop motion video created by campers last year in order to plan and prepare their own stop motion videos.  Each group even competed in a limbo contest.  The winner from each group then competed in an all-camp limbo contest at our meeting on Friday morning:

Here's last year's stop-motion video in case you missed it!

Down in the gym campers navigated through a jungle obstacle course, played kickball, sideline soccer and one of our favorite games, squirrel and nuts in Sports and Game Room:

We cannot believe that next week will already be the third week of camp!  Next week's theme will be "A Ride Down the Log Flume" also known as Water Week!  On Monday we will kick off water week with an Under the Sea Dress Up day. See you then!
