Hello Everyone,
We are off and going here at Camp Summer Fun! Thank you so much for your patience and cooperation as we get rolling though our first drop off and pick ups of the year. We appreciate it.
Today we started pick up at 2:45 and had our last car roll through at 3:14. That means to load all 263 campers in attendance today it only took us 6.6 safe seconds per child. While we will keep working to lower that number we appreciate your patience in the meantime.
To help us lower that number there are a few things you can do to help:
- Seat your child in the rear passenger side of the car so counselors can easily help him or her out.
- Stay in your car at all times. Counselors are there to help your child out, grab their backpacks and get them off to their groups.
- If you need to buckle your child in, pull to the end of the line, pull over to the side and do so there. This helps us keep the flow of traffic going and your child safe.
- Be respectful of staff. These young men and women are working hard to ensure the safety, well being, and happiness of your children. Their requests are motivated by these three things only.
Today we lost one of our busses due to an accident that closed the road it was traveling on. Luckily no campers were aboard, but it did mean that we only had 1 bus to shuttle us to the pool instead of our usual 2. This caused us to run a little behind schedule and kept our first graders from having their swim lessons this morning. This means that first grade half day campers did not get to swim today. We apologize, and will be sure to get them in the water on Thursday.
The first day is always a little hectic with our trips to the pool, but it is important to get all the campers evaluated by our Water Safety Instructors to ensure we can get their lessons and free swims started ASAP.
Tomorrow all groups are on site all day, and will get to experience their first All Camp Meeting of the summer as well as many of their specials.
We look forward to a great day tomorrow and an awesome summer.
Best,
Joe and Ryan
